Linking The Tipis
Linking Instructions
In this section we will show you how to link your 2 Tipis together and strap them down safely.
STEP 1
Erect your first Tipi frame. Making sure you have enough space for your next Tipi frame. Each frame is (10mtrs). When fitting a double Tipi you will need at least 20.4 mtrs Take a look at Tipi framework instructions to learn how to erect Tipi frames.
STEP 2
Getting the second frame in position.
Erect your first Tipi frame. Making sure you have enough space on your site for your next Tipi frame (10-12mtrs). Take a look at Tipi framework instructions to learn how to erect Tipi frames.

Placing 2 main Tipi Poles opposite each other (A B ) 18" apart make sure you have that gap otherwise the roof sheet wont fit correctly

Push your framework up the same as the first frame went up 3 poles pushing against 2 poles. Make sure the poles you are pushing against has stakes behind them to prevent them slipping away as you start pushing.

STEP 3
Fit 2 Tipi Skins
Now you have your Tipi frames in the correct position (18" apart on the linking poles) its time to pull the Tipi skins over. Take a look at Raising the canvas section if you are not sure how to do this. Once you have 2 Tipi skins on make sure the zip will not be on the lifted section. Only peg down the front of the Tipi as you will be lifting the back side of the Tipi skins around the joining sections. Its time to move onto the next step.
STEP 4
3 Linking Poles
With your Tipi Linking kit you should have 3 poles. 2 of them will be 8 metres in length and one 5.5 metres. The 2 long ones are the side linking bars they go either side of the Tipi and the shorter pole is for the middle which sits on 2 pearlins.

The 2 long 8mtr poles (A) need to be at 2.2mtrs high from the ground. They are secured using 2 ratchet straps either end of the pole attached to the main Tipi poles.
The 5.5 mtr (B) pole sits on the Middle pearlins secure with a ratchet either side and 4 security ratchets.

Safety Note
All side linking bars MUST have double ratchets on either side of the pole.
All middle linking poles MUST be fitted with safety ratchets on each end of the pole.
STEP 5
Deciding internal & External Tipi
When linking your Tipis you need to decide which Tipi is your external (Tipi on top) and which Tipi is your internal (Tipi on bottom). The best way to do this is see which way the wind is blowing or which way the prevailing wind blows. Make your Internal Tipi face the wind.
STRAPS
External Straps
Only to be used on outside of Tipis
Internal Straps
Only to be used on inside of Tipis
STEP 6
External Tipi
You have decided which Tipi is your external and which Tipi is your internal now it is time to start strapping them together.

Starting with the external Tipi locate the centre point of the Tipi this will be the middle piece of a panel with stitching running all the way up . Locate the D rings either side of this centre point. Clip on a long external strap on both of these D rings.
(6mtr dog tie-clip-loop)

Miss the next D ring and clip another long external strap onto the next D ring along. do this on both sides
(6mtr dog tie-clip-loop)
Finally miss the next D ring again and clip a D ring onto the next one along.
(6mtr dog tie-clip-loop)

Take the ends of the long external straps that you have clipped on and throw them over the side linking bars
Don't peg down or pull tight yet.

Internal Tipi
You have decided which Tipi is your external and which Tipi is your internal now it is time to start strapping them together.

For the internal Tipi locate the centre point of the Tipi this will be the middle piece of a panel with stitching running all the way up . Locate the D rings either side of this centre point. Clip on an internal strap on both of these Drings

Miss the next 3 D rings go on the 4th and wrap an internal strap around the main Tipi pole that your joining bars are attached to place the strap at pearlin height this gives the internal Tipi plenty of lift.
Don't pull the straps tight yet just fasten them loosely
